Welcome
to the
premiere issue of the Care and Feeding of Empaths
and HSPs!!!
As Empaths, Clairsentients
and Highly Sensitive Persons (HSPs), we have unique
gifts to share with the world. We act as conduits
for the emotions and interpersonal conflicts of
the people around us. This is a profoundly sacred
task, but it can be quite challenging and extremely
exhausting!
Our sensitivities to people, environments and
global events are very specific and often require
out-of-the-box solutions in order for us to live
a life that comes close to being normal. We welcome
you to this very unique community and hold the
intention that, together, we will co-create a
safe haven to share ideas, resources and tools
that will enhance the quality of our lives

Article: Discovering the Gift of My Sensitivities!

Our abilities to
feel deeply, process the details and subtleties,
are
truly gifts - and
I know it doesn't always feel that way.
I too, have struggled
with appreciating my abilities, learning to manage
them and not seeing them as a curse. Sure I enjoyed
being my friends' counselor in high school, except
that I felt lousy after
helping someone
and they felt great (I took on their feelings).
Being an Empath
and HSP was tough on my social life as an adult.
I'd be at a party and all of a sudden it would
seem so noisy - I'd feel overwhelmed and seek
out a back room that was dark and quiet. Can you
relate?
Then one day, I
had the most amazing experience that helped me
see my abilities as gifts. My partner and I were
going to Yosemite National Park in California
- the first time for me. As we drove into the
park on this beautiful windy road in the trees,
we turned the corner and the view opened up onto
Yosemite Valley. The beauty was spectacular!
The mountains,
the trees, the meadows, the waterfalls, the sky!
All of my senses were firing like fireworks going
off! I felt everything deeply,
to my core and
my eyes welled up with joy. I knew that it was
my
sensitivities that
gave me this one-of-a-kind experience, because
I
*felt* it all!
Since that time,
I've learned to manage my gifts by taking excellent
care of my Self
and recognizing my unique needs as an Empath and
HSP. I've even changed my career to one that allows
me to consciously use my gifts to help and serve
others.
Our intention with
this newsletter is to empower you to see your
sensitivities as
gifts, embrace them, manage them, take excellent
care of your Self and share your gifts with the
world!

Q:
How can I move through the world without having
my spirit wounded?
A: (from
Carolyn)
This
is such a powerful question. And one that has
moved me continuously forward on my spiritual
journey. In the eight years since I’ve discovered
what I am – an empath, an HSP and a clairsentient
– I have explored and developed a process that
works for me and the countless sensitives I’ve
coached. This process, called Energy Management,
is based on three principles...Click

(from Lauren)
What
a great question! Certainly, if there was a magic
pill, we all would have already taken it :) For
us sensitive souls who feel so much, it is definitely
a challenge to shine our light brightly and be
out there in the world. Many times,
we shut down our senses in order to avoid
being wounded or over-stimulated - I know I've
experienced survival shut down many times. Today,
there are wonderful tools and techniques available...Click

A: (from Frederick) As
a man, I was taught to hide my feelings.
To not do so was to
be 'less than a man.' As an HSP
of the male gender, I discovered that my 'hiding'
created a pressure cooker of suppressed feelings.
The pressure release whistle, when it happened,
manifested in outbursts of anger (sometimes, rage),
uncontrollable fear and great sadness. When
there was an appearance of outward calm, there
was often the same anger, fear and sadness underneath...

Skill-Building:
The Elemental Nature of Emotions
by Carolyn
Wilson-Elliott, Empath, HSP & Clairsentient
CEO of Quantum
Spirit International
The
elemental nature of sensitivity to others’ emotions
is water. The flowing, constant movement of water
is symbolic of the healthy processing of emotional
energy.
As
HSPs, empaths & clairsentients, we tend to
“hold on” to the energy of the emotions we are
processing. This creates a stagnant pool of emotional
energy that blocks, or dams up, our ability to
move through the world effortlessly and easily.
When
we’re feeling batted around by others’ emotions,
or when we’re taking on others’ emotional states,
water will serve to re-balance our energy by flushing
the blocked energy and getting it to flow freely
again...
